Building Resilience from the Ground Up
Architects are uniquely positioned to lead — and it's time the world knew it.
AI is transforming practice. Climate threats are intensifying. Margins are shrinking. And despite everything architects contribute — to safety, resilience, community, quality of life — the public still thinks we just "draw houses."
You know the value you bring. You've seen it in the buildings that survived the hurricane, in the community that rebuilt stronger. But you're still fighting to be heard, fairly compensated, and respected as the expert you are.
Architects shape how people live. They deserve an Institute that helps them prove it — loudly, clearly, and in language the public actually understands.
Meet Joyce
Joyce Owens has designed buildings that survived Category 4 hurricanes while neighboring structures were lost. She co-founded a practice in London, earned her RIBA credentials, then came home to Southwest Florida to build again from the ground up. She has led the AIA at local, state, and national levels. She knows what it means to practice in the real world, under real pressure.
She's not running to build a résumé. She's running because this moment demands a leader who has already done the hard work. She knows how to collaborate, how to lead, and how to get results.

Your vote on June 10 decides who leads the AIA through the most consequential decade in the profession's history.
If you believe architects should be recognized, respected, and empowered to lead.
Joyce is ready to make that happen.
